The purpose of a Fire and Safety Systems Technician is to maintain a variety of fire detection and alarm systems, master clock systems, intercom/public address systems, and audio/visual equipment; provide information on the proper operation of systems and services; ensure the completion of projects in a timely manner. Education/Experience Requirements: Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by completion of a recognized apprenticeship program, degree, or certificate program in the electrician trade or four (4) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of fire detection and alarm systems.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Valid California Driver's License and good driving record. A resume and letter of introduction is required in addition to the completed application. Questions answered with "see resume" will be considered incomplete. SPECIAL INFORMATION: Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a drug test, TB test, fingerprinting and may include a physical exam. The physical and drug screen are paid for by the District. The candidate's portion of the fingerprint fee is $40.00. OPEN TESTING – Open to employees of the District and the public with the selection process resulting in one (1) Eligibility Lists that will be used to fill current vacancies and any future vacancies that occur within one (1) year. Current permanent employees of the District will be awarded seniority points as per the contract. All properly completed applications will be reviewed and the most appropriately qualified individuals will be invited to continue in the selection process. The process may consist of an evaluation and scoring of application materials, written testing, oral interview and/or performance test to evaluate the applicant’s skill, training and experience. The EdJoin system will time-out after a 20 minute period of perceived inactivity. Your responses to the supplemental questions are limited to 5,000 characters. This position has a in-person performance examination which is a multiple choice exam
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or equivalent, combined with completion of a National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certificate program or combined with four (4) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of fire detection and alarm systems. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT: National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certificate WORKING CONDITIONS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 15% walking, and 75% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
