What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Counselor position at VISTA MARIA?
Plans and organizes work to meet all job requirements, according to Vista Maria and COA standards,
licensing, and funding requirements.
• Provides weekly individual counseling to assigned clients.
• Complete counseling notes for assigned clients in our computerized systems.
• Leads daily groups to improve functions of the body and brain.
• Assists clients with activities of daily living; intervenes when adaptive behaviors arise and assists through collaboration and verbal crisis intervention, as needed.
• Ensure clients participate daily in an hour of recreational therapy.
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Transports clients to and from shopping outings and work as needed.
• Act as an advocate in treatment team meetings, and court hearings as needed.
• Attend and participate in in-service training, and all staff meetings as scheduled.
• Maintains established policies and procedures, programming, and safety and environmental and infection control standards.
• Collaboration with clients, families, and external agencies.
• Acts as a liaison between the Independent Living Specialist and client when there are barriers in trust and connections with Independent Living Specialists.
• Contributes to the team daily and lives the agency mission, vision, and core values.
• Completes assigned accountabilities weekly.
• Demonstrates diversity, equity, and inclusion responsiveness, personal integrity, and professional demeanor in accordance with Vista Maria ethics and the ethics of the program.
• Complete all other related tasks as required or assigned by the supervisor and program manager.
