POSITION TITLE: Chief Engineer
REPORTS TO: Assistant General Manager / General Manager
ABOUT EXPEDITION LODGE-Estes Park
The Expedition Lodge-Estes Park is managed by Vista Host Management & Development
Company, provides spacious suites ideal for extended stays. Located just minutes from
Rocky Mountain National Park, the hotel offers amenities such as a complimentary
indoor pool, game room, etc. We also have an on-site restaurant called "Kissing Moose".
Position Summary
The Chief Engineer is primarily responsible for the overall maintenance of the hotel’s
building, grounds, and operational systems. This role oversees equipment,
mechanical/electrical systems, and ensures compliance with safety and security
protocols. The position also involves training staff, managing maintenance issues, and
supporting asset management to enhance guest experiences.

- Maintain maintenance standards for both guest rooms and public areas, following
- Train maintenance personnel in all aspects of property upkeep and provide basic
- Review and resolve maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders,
- Ensure property and equipment are maintained safely, with all repairs made per
- Uphold the integrity of the hotel’s safety and security programs, particularly related
- Maintain the hotel’s pool, ensuring cleanliness, appearance, and chemical balance
- Function as an independent mechanic, analyzing problems, identifying solutions,
- Respond to emergencies, acting as needed to protect guests, staff, and the
- Monitor fire alarm and life safety systems, ensuring full understanding of operations
- Solicit bids from contractors, evaluate proposals, ensure compliance with
- Maintain building exterior, including grounds and landscaping, ensuring a
- Maintain thorough maintenance logs, inventory, and requisition parts and supplies
- Implement and maintain a preventive maintenance program, ensuring ongoing
- Perform or assist with periodic cleaning projects as scheduled.
- Support energy management programs to optimize resource use.
- Assist other departments as needed and perform other related duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
