Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service with professional phone etiquette and clear communication.
- Schedule appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eyefinity EHR.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing processes including medical collection efforts.
- Manage patient intake forms, update medical records, and review documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist with medical office management tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining organized paper and electronic medical records.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate patient care plans, referrals, and follow-up appointments.
- Use multi-line phone systems to handle incoming calls efficiently while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Experience
- Proven experience working in a medical office setting or healthcare environment, preferably within clinics or dental offices.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eyefinity, Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and insurance billing procedures including Medicare.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software.
- Prior clinic or hospital experience focusing on patient service, front desk operations, or office management is preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and experience reviewing documentation for accuracy is essential for maintaining confidentiality and legal compliance.
