Vista Equity Partners is seeking a dynamic and visionary Managing Director of AI Innovation to lead our firm's strategic AI initiatives. This pivotal role will drive the adoption and implementation of cutting-edge AI technologies across our portfolio companies, enhancing operational efficiency, driving revenue growth, and creating significant competitive advantages. Reporting directly to the Managing Director of the Product & Technology Practice the Managing Director will lead a talented team of AI experts and collaborate closely with portfolio company leadership to unlock the transformative potential of artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities

AI Strategy & Vision:

Develop and execute a comprehensive AI strategy aligned with the firm's investment thesis and portfolio company objectives.

Identify and evaluate emerging AI trends and technologies, assessing their potential impact on portfolio companies and the broader market.

Serve as the firm's thought leader on AI, providing expert guidance and insights to internal stakeholders and portfolio company leadership.

Portfolio Company Collaboration:

Partner with portfolio company senior management teams to identify and prioritize AI opportunities within their businesses.

Lead the development and implementation of AI-powered solutions to enhance existing products, create new revenue streams, and improve operational efficiency.

Provide strategic guidance on AI product development, data strategy, and technology infrastructure.

Oversee the integration of AI capabilities into portfolio company operations, ensuring seamless implementation and measurable results.

Team Leadership & Development:

Lead and mentor a team of four AI professionals, including senior data and AI platform architects, program managers, and developers.

Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, promoting continuous learning and professional development.

Manage team resources effectively, ensuring timely delivery of projects and initiatives.

Oversee the recruitment of any needed additional AI talent.

 AI Platform & Infrastructure:

Oversee the development and maintenance of a robust AI platform and infrastructure to support portfolio company initiatives.

Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Evaluate and select appropriate AI tools, platforms, and vendors.

Program Management & Execution:

Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of AI projects across the portfolio.

Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and resources.

Track and report on the performance of AI initiatives, providing regular updates to senior management.

Ensure proper governance of AI projects.

Due Diligence:

Assist in the due diligence process of potential portfolio companies, assessing their AI capabilities and potential for AI-driven growth.

Qualifications

Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum of 10 years of experience in AI, with a proven track record of leading successful AI initiatives in a business setting.

Extensive experience working with senior management teams and driving AI adoption within organizations.

Deep understanding of AI technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.

· Strong understanding of data science principles, data engineering, and cloud computing.

· Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams.

· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

· Experience in private equity or venture capital is highly desirable.

· Demonstrated understanding of how to create AI based products that meet customer and industry demand.

· Ability to travel as required to portfolio company sites.
