Mechanical Engineering Intern – Process & Automation

Overview:

Seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineering intern to support process improvement, automation development, and operational efficiency projects within a high-volume liquidation center environment.


Duration: Summer 2026 (10–12 weeks)

Schedule: Full-time (40 hrs/week)

Pay: $18–25/hour (based on experience)


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing and improving processing workflows and workstations
  • Support development of automation solutions and mechanical systems
  • Help identify bottlenecks and propose efficiency improvements
  • Create CAD models, layouts, and basic prototypes
  • Work with engineering and software teams on system improvements
  • Support project execution, tracking, and documentation
  • Assist with data collection and basic analysis of operations


Requirements:

  • Pursuing BS in Mechanical Engineering (Junior/Senior preferred)
  • Strong interest in automation, process improvement, and operations
  • Basic CAD skills (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
  • Hands-on mindset (tools, building, problem-solving)
  • Organized, proactive, and able to manage small projects
  • Interest in project management and ownership
  • Strong communication and willingness to learn


Preferred but Not Required:

  • Experience with manufacturing, Lean, or Six Sigma concepts
  • Exposure to automation, conveyors, sensors, or controls
  • Basic understanding of data analysis (Excel)
