Overview:
Seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineering intern to support process improvement, automation development, and operational efficiency projects within a high-volume liquidation center environment.
Duration: Summer 2026 (10–12 weeks)
Schedule: Full-time (40 hrs/week)
Pay: $18–25/hour (based on experience)
Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing and improving processing workflows and workstations
- Support development of automation solutions and mechanical systems
- Help identify bottlenecks and propose efficiency improvements
- Create CAD models, layouts, and basic prototypes
- Work with engineering and software teams on system improvements
- Support project execution, tracking, and documentation
- Assist with data collection and basic analysis of operations
Requirements:
- Pursuing BS in Mechanical Engineering (Junior/Senior preferred)
- Strong interest in automation, process improvement, and operations
- Basic CAD skills (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
- Hands-on mindset (tools, building, problem-solving)
- Organized, proactive, and able to manage small projects
- Interest in project management and ownership
- Strong communication and willingness to learn
Preferred but Not Required:
- Experience with manufacturing, Lean, or Six Sigma concepts
- Exposure to automation, conveyors, sensors, or controls
- Basic understanding of data analysis (Excel)
