Job Summary
The Biomedical Technician II performs advanced-level preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and repairs on a wide range of medical equipment. This role ensures compliance with manufacturer specifications, hospital standards, and regulatory requirements while supporting clinical staff with technical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair medical devices including:
- IV/PCA pumps, surgical units, lasers, endoscopy systems, vital signs monitors, sterilizers, defibrillators, and other hospital equipment.
- Perform safety checks and document all work in accordance with established procedures.
- Interpret service manuals and schematics for accurate repairs.
- Operate electronic test equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
- Assist in equipment purchasing decisions by analyzing requirements and evaluating new devices.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide technical support to clinical teams.
- Maintain a cost-conscious approach and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or technical school in electronics or biomedical technology preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years in biomedical technology; ICC certification or OEM training in specialty areas (dialysis, respiratory, laboratory) preferred.
- Skills: Strong troubleshooting ability, knowledge of electronic schematics, and proficiency with test equipment.
- Other: Valid Florida driver’s license.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Frequent lifting (up to 35 lbs), walking, and fine manipulation.
- Occasional exposure to electrical shock risk, mechanical parts, and bodily fluids.
