Reports to: Vice President of Marketing
VisitMercerCountyPA is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and detail-oriented Social Media Coordinator to manage and execute our social media strategy. This role is crucial for promoting Mercer County as a premier travel destination, increasing brand awareness, engaging with the community, and driving visitation. The ideal candidate will be a proficient writer, a visual storyteller, and deeply knowledgeable about current social media trends and best practices.
Responsibilities:
The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following key areas.
Content Strategy & Creation:
- Develop, implement, and manage a dynamic social media content calendar across all relevant platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).
- Create compelling, high-quality, and on-brand content, including engaging copy, photography (used in print media), short-form video (Reels, TikTok’s), and graphics, that showcases the diverse attractions, businesses, and events of Mercer County.
- Schedule and publish content in a timely manner, ensuring consistency in voice and visual aesthetic.
Community Engagement & Management:
- Actively monitor all social media channels, responding to comments, messages, and mentions promptly and professionally.
- Foster an engaged online community by initiating conversations, running contests/polls, and encouraging user-generated content (UGC).
- Identify and engage with local partners, influencers, and visitors to amplify their content.
Analytics & Reporting:
- Track, analyze, and report on key social media performance metrics (reach, engagement, impressions, conversion) using platform insights and reporting tools.
- Provide regular reports to the VP of Marketing, offering data-driven insights and recommendations to optimize future content and strategy.
- Stay up to date with the latest social media best practices, platform updates, and technological advancements.
Campaign Execution:
- Support and execute paid social media campaigns in collaboration with the marketing team, managing budgets and targeting to maximize ROI.
- Coordinate social media coverage for live events, festivals, and FAM Tours.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 1–3 years of professional experience managing social media accounts for a brand or organization (tourism/hospitality experience is a plus).
Skills:
- Proven proficiency in managing all major social media platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong eye for detail and grammar.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality visual content (photography and video) using mobile devices and basic editing software (e.g., Canva, InShot, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools (e.g. TikTok Studio, Meta Business Suite).
- Understanding of SEO and content marketing principles.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadlines.

This is a full-time role where the expectation is 20 hrs. in office overlapping with office personnel to execute the designed social media calendar and develop future campaigns. The remaining 20 hrs. is expected to be spent traveling the county taking pictures and video content for social media campaigns and print media.
Compensation Package:
$43,000 a year. This would include medical reimbursement, and paid time off. A company cell phone with unlimited data plan will be provided.
