POSITION PURPOSE: The Education Coordinator / Care Staff Supervisor is responsible for promoting best practices through care staff hiring, development and education. The Education Coordinator reports directly to: Agency Director

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt, Full Time

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Care Givers/Care Specialists

PAY RANGE: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour based on experience

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The duties and responsibilities described below do not represent a comprehensive list for this position. Additional tasks may be assigned periodically as necessitated by business demands.

  • Demonstrate a high level of understanding, knowledge and skills of home care educational requirements.
  • Ensure that education plan complies with company and state requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with key team members to identify educational needs.
  • Assess and evaluate the quality of education resources and equipment required to meet the learning needs of the employees.
  • Create educational opportunities for employees utilizing Visiting Angels University courses (classroom or eLearning format), Life Care Navigation Programs, Caregiver Development Program, community programs or organizations such as Alzheimer’s Association, hospices etc. to promote and encourage professional growth.
  • Utilize Visiting Angels University resources including the eLearning platform.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate an orientation program and in-services for employees.
  • Host and facilitate orientation of new hires; coordinate participation and engagement for office team.
  • Establish core competencies and characteristics of quality employees; become well-versed in job descriptions to ensure new employees meet established quality standards.
  • Work with the management team to ensure a smooth transition of new hires from on-boarding and orientation through the first 90 days; identify additional educational/training needs.
  • Maintain professionalism and serve as a strong representative to uphold the business brand, reputation and culture.
  • Conduct Care Staff supervisory visits. Monitor results and use information to modify or enhance educational opportunities.
  • Implement a process to facilitate effective communication with those who are mentoring new employees. Monitor results and use information to modify or enhance educational opportunities.
  • Review results of employee exit interviews and record findings. Use results and trends to enhance and improve educational opportunities.
  • Contribute to the education component of the strategic plan of the organization.
  • Attend office meetings with the appropriate operations staff to discuss ongoing educational needs and initiatives.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and/or annual reports for management as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information pertaining to employees, clients and client’s families.
  • Actively pursue opportunities to advance own professional knowledge and skill development.
  • Complete and submit business expense reimbursement within allotted timelines.
  • Adhere to budget allowances and obtain necessary approvals prior to education program implementations.
  • Maintain full and accurate records of official activities.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Caregiver fill in for critical clients when a Caregiver calls off and a replacement can’t be found.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation with the office staff.
  • Interview applicants for Caregiver positions (in conjunction with other office staff).
  • Onboard new Caregivers (Background check, new hire registration, CAPS check, drug testing etc.).
  • Some HR duties as needed.


REQUIRED JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
:

  • Associate Degree with a minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare or private duty homecare setting OR a High School Diploma with a minimum of two years of private duty home care experience. CNA certification is a plus.
  • Experience with public speaking along with excellent presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) or related applications, scheduling systems, online training platforms, and other healthcare industry-related software.
  • Ability to work well with a team and form relationships.
  • Results-oriented; proactively measure outcomes.
  • Ability to listen and communicate clearly, fluently and diplomatically - both orally and in writing.
  • Present a well-groomed image that reflects the professionalism of the business.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, integrate, delegate and accurately complete work activities within specific deadlines while managing interruptions.
  • Work independently and proactively with a minimum amount of direction and/or supervision.
  • Ability to generate goodwill for Agency with applicants, employees, prospects, clients, their family members and referral sources. Demonstrate a strong commitment to client service excellence and caring for employees.


PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
:

  • Combination of sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, climbing stairs and moving intermittently during working hours.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately to fully meet the requirements of this position.
  • Must be able to properly operate office equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, leadership team, supervisors, clients, family members, vendors and all business associates within or outside the Agency.
  • Successful completion and ongoing compliance with all licensing, certification, continuous education, background checking, drug and alcohol testing, OIG and health assessments as may be required under federal, state, or local law or per employer policy.
  • All the above demands are subject to ADA requirements.
  • Ability to lawfully work in the U.S.
