Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report any changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Administer medications following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, including specialized diets for dementia or Alzheimer's care.
- Support residents with cognitive impairments by engaging in memory care activities and providing compassionate dementia care.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control protocols.
- Provide personal transportation assistance for appointments or outings, ensuring safety during transfers and travel.
- Assist with medical procedures such as first aid, CPR, patient monitoring, and vital signs checks as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized care plans that address each resident’s unique needs.
- Support residents’ social engagement by facilitating community activities and fostering a positive atmosphere.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience providing patient personal care assistance and supporting individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or intellectual disabilities.
- Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer’s, memory care, hospice care, and geriatrics enhances your ability to deliver specialized support.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques, medication administration, patient transfer methods (including Hoyer lifts), and vital signs monitoring is essential.
- Experience working within HIPAA guidelines ensures confidentiality and professional standards are maintained at all times.
- Previous roles involving heavy lifting, manual handling, or assisting with ADLs contribute to your success in this position.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction combined with social work or home & community care experience will help foster trusting relationships with residents.
