Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record patients’ vital signs, health status, and behavioral changes to ensure optimal care
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking
- Administer medications accurately according to care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Support patients with cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer’s by implementing memory care techniques and providing companionship
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to ensure safe transfers and prevent injury during heavy lifting or mobility assistance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and sanitizing living areas
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and follow personalized care plans that meet each client’s unique needs
- Observe patient conditions closely, report concerns promptly, and document all care activities thoroughly
- Provide emotional support and social engagement to enhance clients’ quality of life in a home or community setting
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in home & community care environments or assisted living facilities is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA compliance required; additional certifications such as hospice care or dementia training are advantageous
- Experience with group homes, nursing homes, or long-term care settings is beneficial
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work compassionately with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder
- Demonstrated reliability, patience, and a positive attitude in caregiving roles
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed
