Graphic Design Paid Intern (Summer 2026)

Visit York County is now accepting applications for a Summer 2026 Graphic Designer Intern to join our marketing team from May to August 2026. This is a paid internship opportunity to gain hands-on experience in visual storytelling, brand design, and digital marketing, all while helping showcase York County, SC as a premier destination for visitors and locals alike.

This internship also offers the opportunity to transition into a full-time position based on performance and organizational needs.

This is an in-person internship based out of our Rock Hill, SC office. The ideal candidate will be creative, detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about the York County area.

Core Responsibilities

Assist in designing visual content for Visit York County’s social media, website, blog, email newsletters, and digital campaigns

Create graphics for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn

Support branding efforts by maintaining consistency across all visual materials

Collaborate with the marketing team on campaign concepts and creative execution

Assist in producing promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, and digital ads

Edit and resize images for various platforms and uses

Maintain and organize design files, templates, and digital assets

Support website updates with visual elements using our CMS

Additional Opportunities

Collaborate with other departments (Sales, Events, Visitor Services) on campaigns and projects

Participate in content capture at community events, festivals, or business openings

Contribute creative ideas for campaigns, seasonal promotions, and brand initiatives

Build a professional portfolio with real-world design projects

Other tasks as assigned by the Digital Communications Manager and Director of Marketing and Communications

Qualifications

Education:

Must be a current college student or recent graduate studying Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, or related fields

Ability to fulfill college credit requirements if needed

Experience & Skills:

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign required; After Effects or Premiere Pro a plus)

Strong understanding of layout, typography, color, and branding principles

Experience designing for social media and digital platforms

Familiarity with Canva or similar tools is a plus

Basic photography and/or video editing skills are a bonus

CMS experience (WordPress, Squarespace, etc.) a plus

Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects

Must love York County and be excited to visually tell its story

Internship Details

20 hours/week required

Must be available to work in minimum 4-hour blocks, Monday through Friday (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)

Some evenings and weekends required for event support and content capture

Must reside in or near York County, SC and have reliable transportation

Physical & Work Environment

This position requires general mobility and may involve lifting up to 35 lbs.

Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required

Work primarily takes place in an office setting, with occasional off-site work at local events and attractions

May involve outdoor work in varying weather conditions
