Visit Jacksonville is looking for an experienced individual responsible for managing outreach initiatives and growing relationships in the local community. This essential member of the staff works with all teams at Visit Jacksonville to ensure deliverable execution that pertains to these efforts. This position is the primary contact and liaison in the community for tourism partners and businesses, with the goal of building the reputation of Visit Jacksonville and our services. The ideal candidate has strong public speaking skills and enjoys establishing new community relationships.
Major Responsibilities
- Develops, manages and executes annual strategies for community outreach for Visit Jacksonville.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for Visit Jacksonville with local tourism businesses and entities.
- Participates and presents in meetings within the community that are essential for building strong tourism partnerships.
- Assists with material preparation and presentation at the direction of the leadership team and attends all Visit Jacksonville hosted meetings and events.
- Develops, executes and manages a free partnership program for hospitality and tourism businesses to be included on Visit Jacksonville website, app and in materials. Outreach to get partners engaged and involved.
- Maintains current contact information in Visit Jacksonville’s database for tourism partners through local outreach and communication efforts.
- Establishes and monitors local outreach goals and deliverables as outlined in the contractual obligations with the Tourist Development Council.
- Executes, updates and manages Visit Jacksonville’s Ambassador Program to include training of locals and volunteers on tourism statistics and information.
- Assists all Visit Jacksonville teams with community connections and outreach for Explorers Program, Kids Free November, Passport Programs and other initiatives as crafted within our annual plans.
- Works with local partners on initiatives, communication and needs pertaining to Visit Jacksonville’s Trails.
- Coordinates with the Visit Jacksonville Marketing team for social media and website additions pertaining to community endeavors.
- Determines content for e-blasts as needed for distribution to community partners pertaining to Visit Jacksonville initiatives.
- Coordinates Visit Jacksonville team visits to new tourism businesses for training and referral information. Brings entities in office when appropriate to present material to entire team.
- Assists with FLIP (Front-Line Incentive Perks) for community training opportunities and to provide resources needed to those communicating most frequently with visitors.
- Assists with expansion of National Travel and Tourism Week initiatives in Jacksonville.
- Provides strategies for community engagement opportunities and growth to the Leadership Team.
- Other outreach initiatives as determined through the Visit Jacksonville annual plan or as desired by the President/CEO.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in Marketing, Membership Relations, Business Development or Communications or similar field with preferred connections to the Jacksonville Hospitality or Tourism Industry.
- Four-year degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism or related subject.
- Confident, articulate and strong verbal and written skills for public speaking engagements.
- Ability to perform under time constraints and within a fast-paced work environment while adhering to budgets.
- Preferred strong relationships and contacts with local tourism businesses.
- Preferred familiarity with the local business landscape of Jacksonville.
- Strong understanding of the travel and tourism industry.
- Willingness to travel locally (and occasional out of town assignments) and work after hours or on weekends when needed. Reliable personal transportation required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and presentation skills.
