You will assist patients in selecting eyewear, perform comprehensive eye assessments, and support clinical staff with vital procedures. Responsibilities
- Assist patients in choosing appropriate eyewear by applying knowledge of optical products and patient needs
- Conduct preliminary eye exams, including measuring visual acuity, refraction, and assessing vital signs when necessary
- Prepare and maintain accurate medical records using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Epic and other clinic software
- Support ophthalmology providers with laboratory tasks, including lens fitting, frame adjustments, and basic testing procedures
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality
- Manage retail sales of eyewear and accessories, utilizing retail math skills to optimize sales and inventory management
- Support clinic operations by practicing aseptic techniques during procedures and assisting with medical billing and coding processes
Experience
- Prior experience working in optical retail or clinical settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of ophthalmology, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to effectively assist both patients and providers
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for documentation and record keeping
- Laboratory experience related to lens fabrication, frame fitting, or optical device adjustments is a plus
- Understanding of pediatric care, senior care, and clinic experience to cater to diverse patient populations
- Strong sales skills combined with retail management experience to enhance customer satisfaction and drive business growth
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement and basic medical assessments within a clinical environment
