Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. This role involves supporting residents in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in home and community care, assisted living, or long-term care settings, with a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those served.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide patient observation and monitor health status, including vital signs and medication administration
- Support residents with meal preparation, cooking, and nutritional needs in accordance with care plans
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and manage heavy lifting safely to ensure resident safety
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces through light cleaning duties to promote hygiene and comfort
- Document care activities accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations and privacy standards
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Assist with transportation or outings within the community as needed
- Respond promptly to emergencies using CPR or first aid skills when necessary
- Collaborate with healthcare teams, social workers, and family members to coordinate comprehensive care
Qualifications
- Prior experience in group home settings, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health is preferred
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including Alzheimer’s/dementia/memory care and hospice support
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable
- Ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and safety assessments
- Experience working with care plans and medication administration is a plus
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist residents with mobility needs
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills and patience for working with vulnerable populations
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards in healthcare environments
