We are seeking a skilled, personable, and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our Smithtown Adjustment Center. Job Summary
VisionLOCK is seeking a highly motivated and clinically skilled Ophthalmic Technician to support Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) adjustments and coordinate patient follow-up care at our Smithtown, NY location. This part-time role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment, values precision, and genuinely enjoys making a difference in patients’ lives.
As an integral member of our care team, you will work closely with our ophthalmologists to deliver exceptional postoperative support—ensuring each patient progresses smoothly through the LAL adjustment process toward their best possible visual outcome.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in performing Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) adjustments in accordance with RxSight and surgeon protocols and VisionLOCK best practices.
- Educate and counsel patients on the adjustment process, post-procedure care, and what to expect at each stage of their postoperative treatments.
- Schedule and manage follow-up appointments for LAL adjustments, ensuring a seamless and positive patient experience.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and up-to-date patient records in compliance with clinical standards.
- Operate ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and assist with pre- and post-procedure evaluations.
- Ensure adherence to all safety, sterilization, and infection-control protocols within the clinical setting.
- Provide proactive clinical support to the supervising physician to streamline workflows and enhance overall practice efficiency.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as an ophthalmic technician; prior certification (COA, COT, or COMT) is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) technology is advantageous—comprehensive training will be provided.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to educate and reassure patients with clarity and compassion.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and a high standard of professionalism.
