What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optical Assistant Associate position at Visionary Eyecare?
Visionary Eyecare, located in the River Prairie area of Altoona, is looking for an office associate. We are a local private optical, and we pride ourselves on the outstanding level of service we offer in eyecare and in eyewear. Our office atmosphere values healthy communication and fun! This position will primarily involve optician skills (selling glasses and repairs), but prior optical knowledge is not necessary. This position will also learn to check in patients and pretesting (completing preliminary tests for the doctor's exam). Candidates must be eager to learn and have the ability to function well in a fast-paced environment. We want someone who has a passion for and considers themselves outstanding in the fields of customer service and multitasking. The position starts at full-time (32 hours/week) for training and will evolve into full-time with employee benefits that include a Simple IRA, HRA, PTO, and in office vision discounts. Availability on most evenings (until 6:30pm Tues-Fri, 7:30pm on Mon) and one Saturday a month (8am- Noon) is required.
All hourly employees start at $17 an hour and are eligible for bonus pay. That averages to about an additional $2-$3 an hour. Bonus pay is paid monthly.
