ABOUT THE ROLE

The Assembly Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of day-to-day assembly operations. Responsible for overseeing production activities on the floor, this role ensures that schedules are met, quality standards are upheld, and customer commitments are consistently delivered.

Acting as a hands-on leader, the Assembly Lead guides and supports the assembly team by coordinating workflows, setting daily priorities, and addressing operational challenges in real time. This position is key to driving productivity, maintaining high standards of workmanship, and fostering a collaborative and organized production environment.

With a focus on continuous improvement, the Assembly Lead actively identifies opportunities to streamline processes, optimize output, and enhance overall team performance—contributing directly to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

  • Coordinate daily assembly operations to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Prioritize work orders and production activities based on inventory requirements and business needs.
  • Monitor workflow and production progress throughout the day.
  • Escalate material shortages, capacity constraints, and production risks to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Ensure assembled products are completed on time and available to support customer demand.
  • Maintain organized production areas and efficient workflow throughout the department.

Team Leadership

  • Provide daily leadership and direction to Assembly Team Members.
  • Assign work and monitor productivity to ensure departmental goals are achieved.
  • Train employees on assembly procedures, quality requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Assist with onboarding and cross-training initiatives.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Provide performance feedback and development recommendations to the Warehouse Manager.

Quality Management

  • Ensure all products are assembled according to established work instructions and quality standards.
  • Conduct routine quality checks throughout the production process.
  • Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on reducing defects and improving efficiency.

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure employees follow established safety practices.
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, and near misses promptly.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities.

Inventory & Warehouse Support

  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Warehouse teams to ensure material availability.
  • Monitor inventory levels of assembled products and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Support warehouse operations during peak periods and as directed by the Warehouse Manager.
  • Assist with inventory accuracy and cycle count activities as needed.

A background that includes the following skills, attributes and training would best suit this opportunity:

  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, automotive, electronics, or similar environments
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Basic electrical understanding (training can be provided)
  • Ability to use hand tools and follow instructions
  • Mechanical and electrical assembly competency
  • Ability to use hand tools, torque tools, crimpers, and multimeters
  • Understanding of wiring, polarity, connectors, and basic circuits
  • Ability to read work instructions, diagrams, and BOMs
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow standard work procedures
  • Basic understanding of traceability and documentation requirements
  • Ability to work to takt time / production targets
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to meet deadlines
  • Good problem-solving during assembly and rework tasks
  • Demonstrated understanding of safe work practices
  • Willingness to follow safety instructions, controls, and PPE requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials or products up to 65lb
  • Fine motor skills for small components and wiring tasks
  • Ability to work with adhesives, sealants, and electrical components

Pay: $31.00 - $34.00 per hour
