Optician

Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Optician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist patients with eyewear selection, perform basic eye assessments, and support ophthalmology services within a clinical setting. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with medical records and optical systems. The Optician will collaborate closely with optometrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and satisfaction.

Duties

• Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses
• Measure and fit eyewear accurately, ensuring proper alignment and comfort
• Maintain accurate medical records using EMR systems
• Process medical billing and coding related to optical services in compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Educate patients on lens options, lens care, and proper use of eyewear
• Manage retail sales of optical products while providing excellent customer service
• Collaborate with laboratory staff for lens fabrication and adjustments

Requirements

• Understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
• Experience working with pediatric or senior care populations is a plus
• Strong retail management skills including retail math for inventory control and sales transactions
• Ability to work effectively within a clinical environment
• Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about their eyewear options and eye health needs

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
