We're Hiring: Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper
Location: Homewood, AL
Schedule: Part-time, generally a minimum of 3 days per week; full-time considered
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Starting Pay: $15/hour, based on experience

We're looking for a Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our team and support the day-to-day financial operations of two sister companies located in the same Homewood office.
This is an important role for someone who enjoys being organized, solving problems, paying attention to details, and taking responsibility. Our ideal candidate will become the go-to person for the daily accounting and financial operations of both companies while working closely with the Vice President/General Manager.
This position may be an especially good fit for an experienced or retired bookkeeper/accountant looking for a part-time opportunity, as well as someone seeking a part-time position with the potential for full-time employment.

- Available Monday through Friday, with a minimum commitment of generally three days per week
- Able to provide reliable transportation for occasional banking and other business errands
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred
- Associate degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred
- Experience with QuickBooks Desktop and Fishbowl Inventory is a significant plus
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required

What You'll Do
The Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper will be responsible for a broad range of accounting and financial duties, including:
- Managing accounts payable, including invoice entry and payment of bills
- Managing accounts receivable and customer invoicing
- Processing deposits
- Performing bank and credit card reconciliations
- Processing payroll, including timekeeping, payroll submission, payroll tax filings, and related responsibilities
- Preparing and posting journal entries
- Maintaining the general ledger and supporting month-end close activities
- Preparing financial reports and accounting information
- Maintaining accurate vendor and customer records
- Managing inventory accounting and reconciliation
- Working with our Fishbowl inventory management system
- Processing purchase orders and employee expense reports
- Preparing information related to 1099s and W-2s
- Working with our CPA and providing requested financial information
- Assisting with budgeting and cash-flow tracking
- Handling occasional banking and other business errands
- Following established accounting procedures while taking responsibility for assigned projects
- Jumping in to assist with other administrative and operational needs as they arise
Salary : $15
