What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Assistant position at Vision Park Family Eye Care?
At Vision Park Family Eye Care we deliver the highest quality of care for every patient through our most valuable asset; you. We are seeking a self motivated, compassionate, highly organized individual to join our optometry team in Urbandale. The ideal candidate will have customer service experience along with the ability to multitask, while working under pressure. We are a fast paced office that requires a need for proficiency, as well as a passion to serve our patients and community.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform preliminary testing and measurements for patients, including visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception.
- Assist with contact lens fittings and teach patients how to insert, remove, and care for their lenses.
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as tonometry (eye pressure measurement) and visual field testing. - Prepare patients for the examination by obtaining medical history and documenting chief complaints.
- Assist during eye exams.
- Perform basic administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient records.
- Provide exceptional customer service to ensure patient satisfaction.
-Assist the optometrists before, during, and after each eye exam.
-Running patients through data: auto refractor, skills, keratometry readings, photography, visual acuities, and lensometry.
-Assist with lid holding, pressure patching, inserting contact lenses, low vision exams, and infant SEE exams.
Assist with specialty testing i.e. visual fields, OCT, digital stereo photography, pachymetry, contrast sensitivity, color vision, and amsler grid.
-Ensure all diagnostic equipment maintains in operational status.
-Ensure exam rooms are equipped and stocked at all times.
-Maintain inventory by ensuring stock as well as the ordering and receiving of materials and supplies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working in a medical or optometry setting a plus, but not required.
- Proficient in using electronic medical record systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
-Accuracy in reading, computing, and recording of mathematical figures.
-Strong work ethic with customer service focus.
