Media Generalist

Position: Generalist in Motion Graphics, Editing & Videography; Part-Time

Location: Cincinnati/Dayton Area

Status : Initially part-time with potential to become full-time

Rate: Depends on experience, starts at $30/hr with a skills raise at 6 months as merited.

PLEASE NOTE - Candidate must be local to the Cincinnati/Dayton area and willing to travel to clients in the area an average of 15-20 times per year as some work will be at client locations. Please do not apply if you are outside of this area.

Job Description:

Vision House seeks a talented and creative motion graphics designer and video editor to edit and produce high quality videos, motion graphics, and some 3D animations for corporate clients and non-profit organizations. Position will require you to edit, design and create on brand visual content including edited corporate videos, how-to videos, motion graphics explainers, and some basic 3D animations. Advanced 3D skills are not needed initially and some on the job training will be provided. The position will also provide opportunities for on-location work as a production assistant and basic camera operator (training provided) with opportunities to learn and grow in these skills. The position offers great opportunities to learn and receive on the job training in several production and marketing related disciplines while getting paid. This position is largely work from home but will require some client site work and travel. The candidate needs to be local to the Cincinnati/Dayton area. It could also grow into a full time position with additional responsibilities in the future.

Duties will include:

• Help design and create motion graphics, 2D/3D animations and design.
• Perform corporate video editing, color correction, and audio for client projects with camera operation and videography learning opportunities.
• Adapt to various company brands and represent each in their voice and style.
• Design marketing collateral for various platforms as needed (social media, web banners, email templates, trade show graphics and print material and others).
• Assist with video shoots as a production assistant and camera operator as needed. Camera op training provided, but experience is a plus.
• Assist with graphic design, content updates and general support of both Vision house and client website properties. Training provided, but experience is a plus.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements (experience or equivalent educational training):

• 2 years of video editing and motion graphics, graphic design experience or education.
• Highly proficient in After Effects and Premiere Pro. Some experience in Blender is a plus but not required.
• A keen eye for detail, an understanding of visual storytelling, the elements of animation, and an ability to translate those into brand enhancing content for clients.
• Candidate must have a strong work ethic, be positive in the face of adversity and display tenacity in problem solving when necessary.
• Ability to take ownership and responsibility for each project and the dedication to see them through to completion on time.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in person and in writing when necessary.
• Agility and speed are necessary as many projects involve quick turn-arounds.
• The ideal candidate will have their own computer equipment capable of installing and using the required software to work from home (Mac or Windows).
• The position will vary between 20-30 hours per week initially and offers flexibility in schedule when possible depending on client needs and deadlines. There is also the possibility of occasional workloads approaching 40 hours or more (overtime is available for over 40 hours). Availability for occasional extended hours is a plus.

Additional valuable experience and interests:

• Sony A7 camera operation and lighting experience. Desire to learn fundamentals of on-location production, including advanced lighting, sound and camera operation.
• Familiarity with plugins Element 3D, Stardust and Trapcode is a plus.
• Familiarity with 3D applications such as Blender is a plus.
• Familiarity with Wordpress, basic CSS and HTML is a plus.
• Comfort and willingness to learn how to design with new marketing technologies as they evolve, including adaption of 3D models for online VR/AR, and 3D print/CNC applications for internal and client marketing campaigns.
• Comfort and willingness to learn how to setup and maintain digital signage systems for clients.

The position begins as a part-time opportunity largely working from home, with the hope of evolving it into a full-time, long-term position over time.
