Job Title: Reading Interventionist
Location: Delta, CO
Reports to: K-8 Administrator
Purpose: To play an integral role in assisting Vision Charter Academy reach state and organizational goals for learner literacy.
Pay Scale: $44,228 - $55,750
Hours/Week: 25 (Exempt, Part- Time)
Contract: 197 days
Working Days/Year: 184

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:. Bachelor’s degree required. Education, Literacy, or a related field preferred. Completion of the Science of Reading course preferred but must be obtained within the first year.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a background check to work in a school.
Special Knowledge/Skills: The right candidate should be knowledgeable in the READ Act curriculum, Colorado MTSS, direct instruction of learners and coaching parents for effective support.
Experience: A minimum of one year experience working with elementary-aged learners, preferably in a literacy or reading intervention role.
General Description of Duties:
This position implements research based literacy interventions for learners who have not reached proficiency through direct instruction and progress monitoring. In addition they support the Academic Specialist, instructors, learners, parents, and other staff to help learners reach their educational goals and benchmarks consulting with and coaching them in best practices for literacy.
Skills/Abilities:
Required:
- Provide effective direct literacy instruction for small groups and individuals
- Provide effective cCoaching for parents in support of literacy skills acquisition for their child
- Collaborate with VCA academic staff specific to literacy
- Meet the Colorado requirements for the Science of Reading as identified in the READ Act
- Understand and apply their Knowledge of the READ Act
- Knowledgeable reading curriculum and supplemental intervention materials
- Experience in or ability to quickly master administering the DIBELS 8 proctoring for students
- Colorado MTSS knowledge
Preferred:
- DIBELS, Google Platforms, Mindplay, Lexia experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Oversee and / or administer DIBELS Benchmarks for READ Act
- Create, update, review, and share READ Plans in require Learning Management System
- Identify learners for literacy MTSS Tier II and Tier III
- Partner with HQC in Tier III Literacy Intervention
- Partner with families in Tier III Literacy Intervention
- Assist MTSS Coordinator in related areas
- Create and prescribe Success Packets for Tier III Literacy Intervention
- Provide one-on-one and small group intervention
- Monitor learner progress in Tier II Intervention (Lexia / Mindplay)
- Document progress for MTSS
- Design and contribute to Literacy Success Resource Library
- Collect and track literacy data
- Proctor: CMAS, SAT, PSAT
- Provide additional assistance in other MTSS related areas
Carry out other organizational requirements as necessary including, but not limited to:
- Communicate effectively with the staff members, learners, parents, administrators, and
other contact persons
- Participate in employee evaluation and professional development opportunities
- Attend meetings, trainings, committees as required
- Meet organizational deadlines and communication protocols
- Accomplish organizational goals by carrying out other duties relevant to position as assigned by the supervisor
Working Conditions:
- This position works in a school environment.
- Long periods of sitting, standing, talking on the telephone, and typing may be required.
- It is common for this position to have a fluctuated schedule with increased periods of stress.
- May be required to work evening hours and weekends for special program events.
