Position Overview
Visconti’s Italian Restaurant in Leavenworth is seeking a polished, personable, and highly organized Maître d’ / Lead Host to oversee the guest arrival and seating experience.As the first and last point of contact for our guests, the Maître d’ sets the tone for the entire dining experience. This position goes beyond a traditional host role and requires someone who can confidently manage reservations, coordinate seating, communicate with the service team, and make every guest feel genuinely welcomed.The ideal candidate is gracious, professional, composed under pressure, and comfortable leading the flow of a busy dining room.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome guests and create an exceptional first impression.
- Manage reservations, walk-ins, waitlists, and special seating requests.
- Develop and manage an efficient seating plan based on reservations, table availability, and server sections.
- Monitor the pace and flow of the dining room throughout service.
- Communicate closely with servers, bussers, bartenders, and managers.
- Provide accurate wait-time estimates and keep waiting guests informed.
- Recognize returning guests and help personalize special occasions.
- Answer phones and assist with reservations and general guest questions.
- Address guest concerns calmly, professionally, and discreetly.
- Maintain an organized, polished, and welcoming entrance area.
- Assist with training and guiding other hosts.
- Support the front-of-house team wherever needed during busy service periods.
Qualifications
- Previous hosting, restaurant, hospitality, or customer-service experience preferred.
- Lead host, supervisory, or fine-dining experience is a plus.
- Warm, confident, and professional communication style.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to remain calm and gracious in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and awareness of dining room flow.
- Comfortable using reservation and point-of-sale systems.
- Reliable and available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand and move throughout the restaurant for extended periods.
