On-Call Armed & Unarmed Security Officer

Virtus Security, a division of CENTCOM Global, Inc., is accepting applications for ON-CALL Armed and Unarmed Security Officers in the Central Virginia, Richmond area.

This position is ideal for security professionals seeking flexible hours, supplemental income, or the opportunity to pick up shifts around an existing schedule. On-call officers assist with staffing shortages, call-outs, special events, vacations, and other operational needs. Applicants must possess a current DCJS registration. Armed applicants must also possess a current firearms endorsement. Prior law enforcement or military personnel are strongly encouraged to apply.

Summary

As an On-Call Security Officer, you'll play a key role in helping maintain safe and secure operations across a variety of client locations. Reporting to the Security Supervisor, your core duties will include conflict management, surveillance, access control, and ensuring the safety of personnel and property. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, as is the ability to adapt quickly to different assignments and work environments.

This position offers flexible scheduling with opportunities to work day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts based on operational needs and your availability. A valid driver's license is required for patrol duties and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and secure premises to prevent unauthorized access and ensure safety.
• Respond to incidents and conflicts with effective conflict management techniques.
• Conduct regular surveillance and patrols to deter criminal activity.
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with visitors, clients, and staff.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents and daily activities.
• Administer first aid or CPR when necessary and assist in emergency situations.
• Be available to fill open shifts, coverage gaps, special events, and emergency staffing needs.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
• Minimum of 21 years of age.
• Of good moral character; must pass a background investigation and have no criminal convictions.
• Must pass drug and alcohol testing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Current DCJS registration required.
• Armed applicants must possess a current DCJS firearms endorsement.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be dependable and able to accept assignments on short notice when available.
