This high-impact leadership role is responsible for overseeing the emergency department's clinical operations, patient care delivery, compliance, and staff performance within a 24/7 hospital environment. The Nurse Manager II will implement best practices, drive clinical excellence, and foster a collaborative work culture across multidisciplinary teams.
Position SummaryThe Nurse Manager II plays a critical leadership role with responsibilities that include:
Leading strategy and implementation of patient care delivery models across multiple units.
Collaborating with medical staff and cross-functional leaders to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Managing clinical operations, staff development, equipment use, regulatory compliance, and patient safety programs.
Facilitating performance improvement initiatives and directing emergency preparedness plans.
Managing workforce resources and supporting professional development among clinical team members.
Direct daily emergency department operations, staffing, and resource allocation.
Lead strategic initiatives and performance management aligned with clinical quality metrics.
Manage department budget and cost-control strategies.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal healthcare regulations.
Guide policy development, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Oversee patient safety practices and adherence to evidence-based clinical standards.
Collaborate in planning emergency preparedness and response protocols.
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
Registered Nurse License (OR) - Active and unencumbered
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Minimum 5 years of patient care delivery experience
Minimum 4 years in a leadership or management role
Strong understanding of emergency services and hospital operations
Proficient in healthcare regulations, workforce planning, and compliance
Preferred:
Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing Administration, or related field
Familiarity with healthcare accreditation standards (e.g., TJC)
Experience with process improvement and clinical informatics
Strategic thinking with strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
Ability to mentor, coach, and lead interdisciplinary teams
