A Yard Goat (also known as a Yard Hostler or Yard Jockey) is responsible for moving trailers within the distribution yard to support efficient loading and unloading operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trailer Movement: Operate yard goats to move trailers to and from loading docks and designated yard areas.
- Inspection & Maintenance: Perform pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure all equipment is in safe working condition.
- Coordination: Work closely with dispatchers and other drivers to streamline yard operations and reduce congestion.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate logs and complete required paperwork for trailer movements and inspections.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols to promote a safe work environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 months of experience in yard operations or as a yard hostler.
