Role Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced and detail-driven Accounting Controller to lead financial operations and reporting. This role oversees accounting processes, ensures reliable internal controls, and delivers timely financial insights that support dealership performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage month-end close: account reconciliations, journal entry reviews, and schedule documentation
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and flooring lines
- Prepare and deliver accurate financial statements and reports
- Oversee AR/AP, CIT, Vehicle Payable, Lien Payable, NextGear, and related schedules
- Identify and resolve aged or unusual balances
- Ensure timely submissions of tax filings, loan payments, and other obligations
- Review and approve payroll processes, commissions, and adjustments
- Supervise Accounting Clerks across multiple locations, including training and performance support
- Partner with Office Manager, Title Clerk, and Deal Processor to ensure smooth workflows
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support leadership decisions
- Lead preparation for CPA review and year-end audits
Requirements:
- 2–5 years of accounting experience in automotive, dealership, or similar industries
- Strong understanding of month-end close, reconciliations, and GAAP principles
- Experience with Dealer Management Systems (DealerTrack)
- Ability to train and support accounting teams
- Highly organized, detail-focused, and deadline-driven
- Strong communication skills with leadership and cross-functional teams
