The Materials Handler is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate movement, storage, and distribution of materials, supplies, and products within a warehouse, manufacturing facility, or distribution center. This role ensures inventory is properly received, stored, and delivered to the correct locations in a timely manner, supporting production schedules and customer orders.
- Receive incoming materials, verify contents, and inspect for damage or discrepancies.
- Accurately, label, tag, and store materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Pick and stage raw materials or components for production orders.
- Transport materials to and from storage, production areas, or shipping docks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through barcode scanning or ERP systems.
- Prepare outbound shipments including packing, labeling, and documentation.
- Perform cycle counts and assist with periodic physical inventory.
- Follow proper safety procedures and comply with OSHA and company policies.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Assist with loading/unloading trucks and verifying shipment accuracy.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Prior experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or material handling role preferred
- Basic math and reading skills
- Familiarity with inventory systems, barcoding, or ERP software is a plus
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
- Forklift certification or ability to become certified
- Warehouse or production floor environment
- May require wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Exposure to varying temperatures depending on facility conditions
- May involve shift work, weekends, or overtime depending on business needs
