What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tier 2 - On-Site Support Technician position at VirTech Systems?
VirTech Systems is a managed service provider expanding into the Denver market, and we're hiring our first local Field Technician. This is an on-site role embedded at a client location where you'll serve as our dedicated technical presence — deploying infrastructure, resolving complex problems, and operating with a level of autonomy most IT roles don't offer.
This is a ground-floor opportunity. You won't be backfilling a position or joining a crowded bench. You'll be establishing VirTech's presence in Denver from day one — with direct visibility to leadership and full ownership of the client environment you support.
What You'll Do
- Deploy, configure, and validate switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points at the client site
- Install, rack, cable, and bring up server hardware, UPS systems, and supporting infrastructure
- Oversee third-party low-voltage cabling vendors — scope validation, quality inspection, certification review, and punch list management through sign-off
- Diagnose and resolve complex network issues including VLAN misconfigurations, trunk/access port failures, spanning tree problems, and wired/wireless connectivity disruptions
- Troubleshoot server infrastructure across Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file services, and Windows Server roles
- Identify and remediate wireless performance issues including coverage gaps, interference, and AP configuration problems
- Resolve advanced end-user issues including workstation imaging, application deployment, peripheral integration, and multi-platform troubleshooting
- Provide remote support via RMM tools when physical access to systems is limited
- Maintain accurate on-site inventory records and coordinate asset disposal with the Field Service Coordinator
- Prepare equipment for disposal including secure handling of storage devices and proper labeling per company standards
- Document all work in the ticketing system — scope, findings, parts used, time entries, and follow-up actions
- Create and maintain site documentation including network diagrams, rack layouts, and equipment inventories
What We're Looking For
- Proven hands-on experience deploying and troubleshooting network infrastructure — switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points
- Windows Server administration experience — Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, file services, and hardware rack-and-stack
- Strong diagnostic skills across wired and wireless environments
- Experience managing hardware inventory and asset lifecycle workflows
- Proficiency with RMM platforms and remote support tools
- Disciplined, thorough documentation practices
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision and consistently deliver results
- Professional, clear communication with end users, site contacts, and remote team members
Compensation & Benefits
- $60,000 – $75,000 annually, based on experience
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
