The University of Virginia (UVA) is a highly competitive Division I program committed to providing an exceptional academic and athletic experience for student-athletes. The Department of Athletics is seeking to fill the position of Director of Player Development, Men's Soccer to support the Men's Soccer program.

The Director of Player Development will support the overall development of student-athletes, including their athletic, academic, personal, and professional growth. This position will work closely with the coaching staff and student-athletes to support player development, performance, and preparation for life beyond collegiate athletics.

Core Responsibilities

  • Player Development: Support individual player development and help student-athletes set and work toward athletic and personal goals.
  • Performance Tracking: Coordinate with sports science staff to monitor fitness data, workload, and recovery metrics.
  • Performance Analysis: Review match and training footage to identify areas for individual and team improvement.
  • Video Analysis: Record, organize, and edit match and training footage for player development and coaching review.
  • Tactical Support: Assist coaching staff with opponent analysis, match preparation, and review of team performance.
  • Academic & Personal Development: Support student-athletes in their academic, personal, and professional growth and connect them with appropriate resources.
  • Professional Development: Assist with career preparation, leadership development, and opportunities that prepare student-athletes for life after college.
  • Collaboration: Work with coaching, sports science, strength and conditioning, athletic training, academic support, and other Athletics staff to support the overall development of student-athletes.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree required. 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
