POSITION SUMMARY:
The Donor Relations Manager will be a dynamic, creative, and organized individual who is interested in helping a mission-driven nonprofit thrive and grow. This position will play a critical role in the fundraising and donor relationship management. The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for developing and assisting in the implementing, engagement, and fundraising strategies to enhance and grow revenue. They will be part of ensuring revenue goals are met for various fundraising areas. They may also be responsible for administrative tasks, such as data management and reporting. The Donor Relations Manager is a part-time position that reports directly to the Executive Director.
Donors form the backbone of our work and building meaningful relationships with our donors should be a central focus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: (include, but are not limited to)
Donor Relations 40%
- Implement and assess an overall donor relations strategy that supports the short- and long-term fundraising goals
- Establish and manage information-tracking processes regarding acknowledgement, recognition, ongoing communications and continued cultivation of past and current donors to enhance their relationship and increase the likelihood of continued contributions
- Determine goals and strategies to increase donations to our organization
- Contribute to making recommendations for improving program results
- Coordinate with staff to implement plans to broaden base of support
- Promote, manage, and expand the Cycle Breakers and Circle of Remembrance programs
- Coordinate with Marketing Department to implement e-marketing and social media campaigns as they relate to individual and corporate giving
- Acquire new donors, collect donor information and use that information to cultivate strong supporter relationships
- Attain activity measures related to performance including number of personal interactions and visits each month
- Provide professional service to donors (via phone, email and face-to-face)
Fundraising 40%
- Develop fundraising plans and perform a variety of duties related to fundraising for our organization
- Work alongside the Marketing and Resident teams to aid in securing sponsors for relevant events and appeals as needed.
- Assist Marketing team with information in preparation for online donation pages, as needed
- Achieve annual fundraising goals
Database Management 15%
- Track all donor interactions in the database and flag potential major donors
- Enter donor and donation data into Little Green Light and create/run weekly, monthly, and periodic reports
- Generate development reports from databases (sponsors, major donors, individuals, lapsed donors, etc.)
- Maintain integrity of donor and donation records in Little Green Light
- Assist with the entry of individual donor giving data
Other Responsibilities - 5%
- Provide vision, energy and passion for VAWFSC’s mission, values and integrity in all aspects of the job
- Assist with administrative duties as needed
- Answer general development phone and email inquiries
- Maintain physical and electronic donor communication materials and inventory of general development supplies
- Organize volunteers engaged in fundraising or related donor engagement
- Schedule various staff and volunteer meetings, as needed
- Be available and willing to perform other tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience, success, and progressive responsibility in fundraising
- High ethical standards, discretion, and confidentiality in approach to fundraising and working with donor information
- Prior experience managing donor campaigns
- Exceptional customer/donor service skills
- Must be able to continually adapt a strong and compelling case for support
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate information verbally confidently and clearly and in writing that are effective with a diverse range of audiences including board members, volunteers, staff, donors, executives, potential funding partners and all constituencies
- Ability to proofread and edit content
- Self-motivated, responsible, detail oriented, well organized, focused and goal oriented, with a high level of initiative and energy, as well as problem solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, cultural humility, and cross-cultural communication skills
- Creativity as well as analytical ability to maximize program outcomes and track for strategic and process improvements
- Exceptional project management and willingness to handle concurrent tasks, make timely decisions, prioritize, and meet deadlines to see projects through to completion with quality
- Ability to work independently, with limited supervision and also collaboratively in a team-based decision-making environment, instilling confidence and trust among fellow staff and external constituents
- Experience with development database administration and spreadsheet software, specifically Little Green Light
- Experience generating reports and interpreting the data.
- Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles and practices.
- Proficient with Google Suites as well as internet-based communications and research tools such as Google, Mailchimp, etc.
- Proficient in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database, such as Little Green Light, a plus.
- Ability to convey a high degree of commitment and passion for the mission of VAWFSC
- Budget building and planning in a non-for-profit environment is beneficial.
- Exceptional understanding of private philanthropy as it relates to not-for-profit organizations and a wide and deep knowledge of fundamental disciplines of resource development.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years of development, fundraising, and/or campaign management experience in a not-for-profit environment
- Minimum of 2 years of customer service/donor relations experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience building relationships with donors, volunteers, customers, or similar, or equivalent combination
- Solution focused in executing projects/assignments
- Proficient in Google Suites
- Comfortable working in a busy office environment and multi-tasking
- Ability to work well within a diverse team across departments
- A passion for the organization’s mission
- Must pass a background check
