Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.
Virginia Western, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for Adjunct Faculty to provide classroom instruction for Paramedic courses in the School of Health Professions. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching discipline and in trends in community college education.
The Paramedic Adjunct Faculty position provides education and training support to students in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) and Paramedic levels. This role involves delivering comprehensive educational support, including the instruction of psychomotor skills vital for effective EMS practice. The instructor will evaluate student performance in the lab setting to ensure proficiency in essential skills and procedures, prepare and organize instructional materials and resources for lab sessions, and cultivate a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and success.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
