Volunteer Manager - Hanover County

Job Description

A Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) Volunteer Manager, provides leadership in determining, implementing, and evaluating volunteer and donor programs under the supervision of the Extension Agents. The volunteers assist in program delivery for Agriculture and Natural Resource and 4- H Youth Development Programs and other community needs.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience at the time of employment in a relevant discipline.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications.
Personal mobility/transportation and flexible working hours required as there are night and weekend work hours and travel throughout the county.
Volunteer supervisory skills with minimal supervision in an unstructured setting.
Ability to communicate effectively with broad audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects and responsibilities.
A certification as a Volunteer Manager (CVM) is favorable.
Establishes ability to recruit, select, train and manage volunteers.
Proves ability to lead groups, plan and implement, facilitate, teach and evaluate educational and informational programs.
Demonstrates effective verbal, written, communication, program marketing and presentation skills.
Knowledge of human growth and development.
Ability to conduct community assessments.
