Join the Team with Virginia Public Utilities! VPU has an opportunity for an Accounting Supervisor. Responsibilities include:
- Supervise office staff including Meter Dept.
- Ensure all areas of responsibilities within the Utility are in compliance with established standards, rules, and requirements as set forth through department policy
- Assist in preparation of materials used in establishing financial goals and action plans, setting rates, establishing budgets, and other financial planning reports as requested
- Prepares or assists in preparing financial reports and other monthly reports
- Assists in development of cost control procedures and operational efficiency improvements
- Assists in the preparation of financial analysis for special projects
- Develops expertise in computer systems used by the Utility as well as PC-based software used for financial reporting; trains other employees as needed
- Develops written policies and procedures pertaining to Customer Service and Accounting functions.
- Processes payroll and all related reports
- Represent Department in the first step of the grievance procedure, where appropriate
- Responsible for compliance with safety and environmental issues in the Customer Service/Accounting area
- Performs other duties as assigned.
