Essential Functions:
- Performs breast imaging studies utilizing appropriate positioning techniques according to ACR/MQSA guidelines and follows radiation safety standards relevant to imaging practices and policies.
- Produces high image quality and evaluates technical quality of images such as density and contrast. Submits high quality images for interpretation to the Radiologist to include all positioning views.
- Acts as primary liaison between patients and Radiologists providing and recording all pertinent clinical information relating to the procedure.
- Completes all required written and computer documentation, record releases, forms and patient medical records in a timely manner, and ensures all results are returned.
- Complies with federal regulations in order to meet standards for quality control and reports technical issues contacting vendors to restore equipment and report any quality control concerns.
- Coordinates film procurement and return with other imaging facilities.
- Display knowledge of the theory, techniques, operation and care of the equipment and the principles of ALARA.
- Display high degree of working knowledge of quality control testing and quality assurance of the imaging equipment utilized.
- Display knowledge of breast anatomy physiology, pathology and medical terminology.
- Work independently to set priorities and perform job with minimal supervision.
- Display sensitivity to patients physical and emotional needs before during and after procedures.
- Demonstrate good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instruction and seek guidance as needed.
- Perform work within appropriate time frame, accurately and in a timely manner in periods of increased work load and high stress.
- Ability to solve patient problems, treat patient with dignity and respect and respond quickly to patient needs.
- ARRT Certified
- Must be registered in mammography by ARRT
- Virginia State License
- Digital and 3D tomosynthesis experience preferred
