Quality Engineer

SUMMARY: The Quality Engineer supports Virginia Panel Corporation’s (VPC) commitment to delivering high-performance interface and test solutions through robust quality systems, data-driven improvement, and ISO compliance. The Quality Engineer collaborates cross-functionally to enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and overall operational excellence.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Quality & ISO Compliance:
  1. Assist the Quality Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality policies, goals, and inspection plans consistent with ISO 9001 and company objectives.
  2. Support efforts to ensure compliance with all Quality and ISO requirements across departments.
  3. Participate in establishing quality schedules, audits, and testing standards to uphold product integrity and reliability.
• Auditing & Verification:
  1. Troubleshoot and resolve quality concerns, ensuring timely corrective and preventive actions.
  2. Verify that operators adhere to established procedures and maintain proper documentation.
  3. Collect, analyze, and interpret data to verify product performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Process Engineering & Compliance:
  1. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to prioritize and execute process improvement initiatives that enhance quality and profitability.
  2. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on compliance with governmental and industry regulations (e.g., DFARS, RoHS).
  3. Support process validation and change management activities for new and existing products.
• Continuous Improvement:
  1. Lead structured problem-solving initiatives to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  2. Promote Lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, and throughput improvement to enhance efficiency and delivery performance.
  3. Contribute to the ongoing development and optimization of VPC’s Quality Management System (QMS).

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical discipline preferred.
• 2 years of experience in quality engineering, manufacturing, or process improvement roles.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality auditing practices.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and data-driven problem-solving.
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience in electronics, precision manufacturing, or test interface systems is a plus.
