Part Time LPN (Weekend Only)

Overview

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina, is devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders and is seeking a top LPN candidate to oversee the operation of a Multispecialty Infusion Clinic (MSI) for weekend infusions of monoclonal antibodies.

Successful Candidates Would Onboard Patient Referrals To The Clinic Via Telehealth Visits And Provide Incident-to Coverage For Saturday And Sunday Infusion Appointments. Candidates Must Be Able To Directly Manage Infusion Emergencies In The Office. Top Candidates Must Be Willing To Travel To The Sites Where Appointments Are Offered Throughout The Month, As Shown Below

Responsibilities

• Provides general nursing care to patients.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
• Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
• Completes paperwork including but not limited to FMLA, disability, Home Health/Hospice, and transfusion orders
• Screens patients for appropriate information.
• Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls.
• Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
• Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
• Arranges transfusions and hospital admissions upon request
• Assures appropriate consent has been obtained prior to treatment or procedures
• Prepares exam rooms including re-stocking of treatment areas.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing. BSN preferred.
• Requires a minimum of two years' experience as a practical nurse (with Central Line Care and IV skills) in a hospital or clinic setting.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicing state.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Must be willing to travel between offices when needed.
