Whatever the role, your work here helps bring Virginia's story-past, present, and future-to life.If you are curious, creative, and passionate about preserving and sharing Virginia history, your next chapter starts now!Position Summary: The Virginia Museum of History & Culture (VMHC) seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Security Officer, who has an authentic interest in the mission and work of the VMHC. The Security Officer position is highly visible, serves as part of Operations & Finance and is responsible for providing security for the VMHC properties throughout buildings and grounds.Duties & Responsibilities: Secures premises by patrolling campus and access points, permits entry into the buildings and ensures the security, safety and well-being of staff and visitors; informs violators of policy and proceduresMonitors security risks to the campus and patrons and reports potential problems to the Manager of Security, Security Supervisor or Director of FacilitiesMonitors security cameras, alarm and fire systemsWrites correspondence including logs and reportsMonitors all contractors, vendors and visitors in non-public areasResponds to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to staff and visitorsReceives and notifies departments of deliveries; processes and delivers mail and packagesAdheres to policies & procedures of the security and maintenance departmentsPerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Necessary: Works well under pressure and able to maintain professional composureExcellent customer service skills; must be able to project an excellent level of hospitalityProfessional appearance is requiredEducation & Experience Requirements:High school educationComputer and security experience preferredAbility to pass and maintain the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services registration for unarmed security officersNote & Special Requirements:Ability to work a flexible/rotating schedule that may require early morning, evening and weekend hoursPrimarily guest-facing teams must be in VMHC uniform while on shift.Leave, wellness and retirement benefits offered in accordance with company policy.Application:If interested in this job opportunity, please apply and upload your cover letter and resume to https://virginiahistory.isolvedhire.com/jobsearch/?job_board_classification=Job_Opportunities.Founded in 1831 as the Virginia Historical Society, the VMHC, a private, non-profit organization, is the oldest museum and cultural organization in Virginia, and one of the oldest and most distinguished history organizations in the United States.
