Job Description
The Montague Lab at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Data Curation Specialist to support interdisciplinary research in computational neuroscience and neuroeconomics. This role focuses on the cultivation, tracking, and reporting of research and operational data across a multi-site neurochemical research program.
The successful candidate will track project status across collaborating institutions, support site startup and coordination efforts, and ensure accurate reporting of study progress and metrics. In addition, this role will provide research assistant support for participant coordination, study logistics, and general lab operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Data & Project Oversight (40%)
Track, maintain, and report on the status of the neurochemical research project across all participating sites
Curate and manage project data, including enrollment metrics, timelines, and study progress
Compile and deliver regular updates, summaries, and reports to lab leadership
Identify delays, risks, or gaps in project data and communicate updates proactively
Multi-Site Coordination & Site Startup (20%)
Coordinate communication and data flow between collaborating institutions and research teams
Support site startup activities, including onboarding, documentation, and coordination with external partners
Assist in aligning workflows, timelines, and reporting expectations across sites
Facilitate collaboration by organizing updates, meetings, and follow-ups across teams
Research Operations (20%)
Assist with scheduling, and coordination of research participants in compliance with IRB-approved protocols
Coordinate study logistics with internal teams and clinical partners
Maintain accurate research records and scheduling systems
Administrative & Lab Support (15%)
Support meeting scheduling, documentation, and lab communications
Maintain organized filing systems for project, participant, and regulatory materials
Assist with data preparation for presentations, reports, and grant-related documentation
Contribute to workflow improvements and documentation standards across projects
Training, Travel & Collaboration (5%)
Travel to collaborating sites, both domestic and international to support coordination, training, and project implementation
Support cross-site collaboration efforts and assist with maintaining consistency in processes and reporting
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in health services administration, neuroscience, psychology, business, or related field, or equivalent related experience.
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across teams
Understanding of multiple types of data management software
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in healthcare, research, or clinical environments
Familiarity with EMR systems (e.g., Epic) or research data systems
Experience supporting multi-site projects or collaborative initiatives
