What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Research Specialist position at Virginia Jobs?
The Center for Leading Edge Addiction Research at the University of Virginia is seeking a Clinical Research Specialist to work on human clinical research trials. This individual will work closely with the Clinical Research Manager and the entire study team and receive on-the-job training to learn the role of Clinical Research Specialist, helping with different aspects of the research protocols. The Clinical Research Specialist will work under direct supervision of a Principal Investigator and Clinical Research Manager and will be assigned clinical research duties as deemed appropriate by the designated supervisor.
Responsibilities :
- Work closely with the Clinical Research Manager and / or Principal Investigator to learn the full scope of clinical research duties.
- With the mentorship of the CRM and / or PI, learn how to read and follow a clinical trial protocol as it is written.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of patient safety in clinical research and identify the components of a clinical trial protocol that are employed to protect patient safety.
- Engage in any of the following study conduct activities :
Screen and identify eligible participants
Minimum Requirements :
Education : Bachelor's degree in related field.
Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. The job will also require remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time, frequent movement and positioning, and moving / transporting items weighing up to 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood / body fluids and infectious disease.
This is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. Anticipated Hiring Range is commensurate with education and experience.
