Job Duties
The vision of the Board of Education and the Superintendent of Public Instruction is to ensure, through high academic standards and accountability, that an effective education program is established and maintained in Virginia’s public elementary, middle, and high schools.
The mission, in cooperation with local school boards, is to increase student learning and achievement.
This position will support and be the conduit for all grant activities for the Virginia Department of Education. This position will serve as a leader for the identified fiscal grant staff in the following areas: ESEA, teacher licensure, the Office of School Quality, Career and Technical Education, other federal grants, and all other supplemental grants.
Additionally, this position will create connections among multiple offices to implement a grant management system and process to ensure that resources from grant sources are aligned to the agency mission and vision. It is also critical that this position provide support to agency staff to ensure that maximization of funds is achieved to support students across the Commonwealth and be inclusive of Innovative and creative solutions and to ensure cross collaboration with all agency resources to maximize the impact to students.

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of local, state and national trends, practices and policies relative to the use of data and technology in education
- Knowledge of and experience with K-12 teaching, learning, assessment and accountability grant opportunities and funding, ideally at a national and statewide scale.
- Requires the ability to display knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws, statutes, and procedures and how the impact the ability to access grant funding and sustain compliance.
- Requires the ability to display knowledge of effective, high impact and innovative, educational theories, principles, practices, and techniques related to education in order to help teams access grant funding and achieve results.
- Requires the ability to display knowledge of current administration and supervision theories, principles, and practices related to school programs and management practices that are aligned to grant opportunities; and/or to ensure consultation with agency experts.
- Requires the ability to display extensive knowledge of school finance and budgeting, to include specific rules for federal/state funding.
- Requires the ability to display effective oral and written communication skills, including working with a variety of stakeholders.
- Requires the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data.
