Customer Service Technician

Position Description

Hourly Position – MCV Campus
$14.00 p/hour
29 hrs. p/week
Hours vary between 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday

The VCUCard Office has openings for Customer Service Technicians on the MCV Campus only.

The Customer Service Technician is an hourly position at the VCUCard Office, performing general office administrative duties, including secretarial, clerical, customer service, and support. This position will assist with card issuance, troubleshooting, maintenance, and the administration of the VCUCard for the university's student and employee populations. Applicants will need to have the desire to work with computers and to speak with hospital professionals or large groups.

Job duties:

  • Assist with daily card operations, and general office duties such as restocking literature, and organizing and cleaning the customer service office.

  • Assist at orientations or events such as answering customer questions, checking IDs, and maintaining line flow and crowd control.

  • Provide important information and assistance to customers in the office or over the phone.

  • Assist with daily cashiering responsibilities such as departmental billing, RamBucks deposits, and accessory purchases.

  • Undergo training to gain knowledge of office policies, procedures, and logistics.

  • Assists with shredding sensitive customer data and technology.


Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work up to 6 consecutive hours during shifts.

  • 2 years related experience working in a customer service office.

  • 2 years of cashiering experience and basic knowledge of register operations.

  • Strong customer service skills with excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of MS Office and Google Suite.

  • Must take initiative and can work independently.

  • Must be able to work with a wide range of personality types in a variety of professional business situations. 

  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

 

Salary Range: $14.00
