Recreation Therapy Supervisor

Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center (VBPC) is a 100-bed freestanding psychiatric hospital located near the beautiful resort area of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a short 10-minute drive to the oceanfront. VBPC offers acute psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults 18 years and older. The hospital is accessible 24 hours a day for admissions and includes mental health assessments and an excellent referral network. Treatment programs and specialty services at VBPC include substance abuse, dual diagnosis and partial hospitalization.
Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center currently has an opening for a Recreation Therapy Supervisor. Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Position Summary
Provides prescribed and individual recreation services to patients; assesses, maintains and develops programs to access social, cognitive, physical and emotional functioning. Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients; assists in maintenance of a safe, clean therapeutic environment and assures that patients participate in recreation therapy activities; and documents accordingly. Supervises the Recreation Therapy staff and Interns; including time and attendance.

Job Requirements
The following are the job requirements for the Full-Time Recreation Therapy Supervisor position:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited school in Therapeutic Recreation and CTRS certification or licensure within the respective field required.
Valid Virginia Driver’s License required.
1-3 years experience working with adults within a psychiatric environment required.
