Fiberglass Boat Repair Technician responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and restoring fiberglass boats to their original condition. This involves a range of tasks, from assessing damage to applying gelcoat and ensuring a high-quality finish. Key responsibilities include repairing fiberglass hulls, decks, and other structures, as well as performing gelcoat repairs, structural repairs, and cosmetic refinishing.
Duties:
- Inspection and Assessment:Evaluating damage to fiberglass boats, determining the extent of the damage, and selecting the appropriate repair methods.
- Preparation:Preparing surfaces for repair by cleaning, sanding, and masking affected areas.
- Repairing:Applying fiberglass matting, resin, and gelcoat to damaged areas to restore the structural integrity and appearance of the boat.
- Finishing:Applying gelcoat and/or paint, sanding, and buffing to achieve a smooth, flawless finish.
- Material Handling:Handling and mixing fiberglass resins, catalysts, and gelcoats according to specifications.
- Tool and Equipment Maintenance:Maintaining and caring for tools and equipment used in fiberglass repair, including grinders, buffers, and spray guns.
- Quality Control:Conducting thorough inspections of completed repairs to ensure they meet quality standards and customer expectations.
- Communication:Communicating with customers about repair progress, providing guidance on maintenance, and addressing any concerns.
- Safety Compliance:Adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Teamwork:Collaborating with other technicians, service advisors, and management to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery.
