PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITY:
As a Facility Maintenance Technician, you will handle a variety of general facility maintenance tasks. You are a problem solver and like to work with your hands. The role includes both indoor and outdoor work, across multiple locations, primarily supporting the Wisconsin DOT and other state and federal contracts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
1. Check & replace furnace filters.
2. Basic lawn care and landscaping.
3. Repair and service of lawn tractors and air compressors.
4. Blade sharpening.
5. Light duty electrical tasks.
6. Minor concrete and asphalt repairs.
7. General custodial duties to include restroom cleaning.
8. Snow removal to include use of plows, snow blowers, shovels (winter season starts as early as 4am)
9. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, spreadsheets, and reports using a computer.
10. Collaborate with and provide support to adults with disabilities as part of a supportive work environment.
11. Assist with maintenance and cleaning at rest areas, State Patrol facilities, Park & Ride Lots, and other DOT locations.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and general repairs.
- Basic mechanical and/or electrical skills.
- The ability to operate power equipment, such as lawn tractors and snow blowers.
- Self-motivated, self-directed, organized, accurate, and precise.
- Attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and the ability to prioritize.
- Ability to read / interpret work orders.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications including spreadsheets and email.
- Collaborative, approachable, and communicative.
- Valid Driver’s License; ability to travel to multiple sites with occasional overnight travel.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
- Ability to pass a federal caregiver background check upon hire & every 4 years thereafter.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Early mornings, outdoor work, all weather conditions, indoor & outdoor tasks, physical labor.
Medium lifting 50-100 pounds.
