Compensation: $32.97/hour, non-negotiable


Established by Black and Latina activists in 1984, the Violence Intervention Program (VIP) is NYC’s only culturally specific organization with a mission to address domestic and sexual violence within Latine communities. We provide intensive support and services to 3,500 survivors and children every year and reach 10,000 community members through community events and preventive education workshops. We are dedicated to developing innovative programs that meet the complex needs of our diverse community and that align with our organizational values.

 

The Restorative Justice Facilitator is an exuberant and compassionate individual with a demonstrated commitment to developing alternative approaches to community healing and restoration with families impacted by domestic violence. The Facilitator reports directly to the Restorative Justice Manager and is responsible for conducting outreach and running a variety of community building and restorative circles designed to offer support to Latinx survivors, families and community. The ideal candidate is an active listener and skilled communicator who engages people with compassion and empathy and views conflict as an opportunity for transformation. The facilitator is approachable and works closely with the Restorative Justice Manager to provide culturally responsive restorative practices to diverse groups of people in multifaceted roles. The candidate embraces values of diversity, cultural humility, teamwork, and community empowerment. 

 

Essential Functions

Direct Service and Facilitation: 

  • Facilitate restorative and community-building circles with clients, family/community members, responsible parties, and staff. 
  • Support restorative justice processes involving interpersonal harm, including outreach, intake, preparation, and case coordination. 
  • Provide 1:1 client support, including emotional support, safety planning, referrals, and program completion resources. 
  • Collaborate with referral sources and community partners to support positive client outcomes. 
  • Recruit, engage, and train community volunteers participating in restorative programming. 
  • Organize and participate in community outreach events and meetings, including occasional evenings and weekends. 



Program Development: 

  • Assist in developing training curricula, program materials, protocols, and resources informed by client and staff feedback. 
  • Support strategic planning and implementation efforts to address systemic issues impacting clients. 
  • Participate in ongoing restorative justice and circle practice training. 

 

Administrative: 

  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness to ensure high-quality service delivery. 
  • Maintain accurate case records, data, and reports for compliance, quality assurance, and grant requirements. 
  • Collaborate with program leadership on grant reporting and provide data to support fundraising and grant applications. 
  • Perform related administrative and other program duties as assigned. 



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3–5 years of relevant lived, educational, or professional experience. 
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal). 
  • Experience with group facilitation; restorative justice facilitation or strong knowledge of restorative justice principles required. 
  • Circle practice experience preferred. 
  • Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing a flexible schedule. 
  • Experience working with diverse communities, particularly Latinx, BIPOC, and low-income populations, with a commitment to cultural humility. 
  • Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, confidentiality, accountability, and teamwork. 
  • Commitment to intersectional social justice and supporting trauma survivors. 

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time, non-exempt position, working 35 hours per week with a pay rate of $60,000/year.
