We offer unlimited PTO and flexible work schedules, a hybrid workplace, health benefits coverage up to 90% for staff and their families, a 403(b) retirement plan, a staff-led wellness committee, time to play and laugh together, and more.

A Great Fit

This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate, bilingual professional who is passionate about supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence and advancing social justice.

As a Counselor Advocate, you’ll provide trauma-informed counseling, case management, advocacy, and crisis intervention to survivors as they work toward safety and stability. We’re looking for someone who can build trusting relationships, navigate complex systems and challenging situations with compassion and sound judgment, and work collaboratively to connect survivors with the resources and support they need.

What You'll Do

  • Provide trauma-informed case management and supportive counseling, including needs assessments, individualized service plans, and safety planning.
  • Advocate for and support survivors navigating legal, immigration, housing, public benefits, education, healthcare, and other systems.
  • Connect survivors with appropriate resources and services through referrals, advocacy, and accompaniment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes, reports, and other required documentation while protecting survivor privacy and confidentiality.
  • Facilitate bilingual support groups and participate in community outreach and educational workshops as needed.
  • Collaborate with VIP staff and external providers and participate in supervision, trainings, case conferences, and program meetings.
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements and provide program coverage in Manhattan or Queens as needed.

If you’re excited about this opportunity but don’t meet every qualification listed, we still encourage you to apply. We value transferable skills, a willingness to learn, and the different experiences candidates bring to their work.
