The Substitute Teacher is responsible for implementing lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher, supervising students in the classroom and other assigned settings, maintaining appropriate classroom management, and ensuring a safe and orderly learning environment. The substitute will take attendance, follow school procedures and policies, provide instructional support aligned with district expectations, and communicate any important classroom matters to the building principal or returning teacher. Substitute teachers are expected to model professionalism, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate positive interactions with students and staff at all times.
Qualified candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, with additional education or prior experience working with children preferred. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills, reliability, adaptability, and the ability to manage a classroom effectively. All applicants must meet Arkansas Department of Education requirements for substitute teachers and successfully complete required background checks in accordance with Arkansas law.
