Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor residents' health status by observing vital signs, patient behavior, and overall condition; report changes promptly
- Support medication administration following established protocols and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal service, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met
- Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and common areas through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
- Document care activities accurately in resident care plans and progress notes; participate in care plan updates
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, especially those with dementia or memory impairments such as Alzheimer's disease or autism spectrum disorder
- Follow safety procedures including CPR, First Aid, and emergency response protocols to ensure resident safety at all times
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care tailored to each resident's needs
- Support residents' participation in social activities and community engagement efforts to promote mental stimulation and quality of life
Qualifications
- Valid CNA certification or equivalent licensure a plus but not required; prior experience in assisted living, nursing home, or home & community care preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and HIPAA compliance
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia (including Alzheimer's), autism spectrum disorder or in hospice care is highly desirable
- Physically capable of assisting with resident transfers and mobility support
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and team members
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve residents' quality of life through direct support and caregiving activities
- Knowledge of infection control practices including cleaning protocols and safety procedures such as CPR and First Aid certification is preferred
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends or holidays as needed; reliable attendance is essential
